Starkey Edge AI 16
Launched November 2024, Starkey Edge AI’s processor offers faster and more efficient sound management, expanding its ability to handle complex sound environments with improved dynamic range and a lower noise floor. This refinement enhances overall sound clarity, especially by isolating speech from background noise through its advanced Speech Presence Predictor, which more accurately detects and filters non-speech sounds. Additionally, the optimized power efficiency of Edge AI’s processing extends battery life across diverse listening modes, offering longer-lasting performance for users moving between different environments.
Starkey Edge AI 16
The Starkey Edge AI hearing aids, available in RIC-RT, mRIC-R, and rechargeable options, deliver reliable performance through advanced yet accessible technology. Powered by Starkey’s updated Neuro Sound processor, Edge AI processes sounds rapidly to improve speech clarity and reduce strain, even though it operates with slightly fewer features than higher-tier models. With long-lasting rechargeable options, these aids offer up to 42 hours of use, making them suitable for everyday wear. The redesigned Starkey app enhances ease of use, providing essential controls, 'how-to' videos, and guidance based on user feedback.
Edge AI Technology Levels
Edge AI hearing aids are offered in four technology levels: 24, 20, and 16, each tailored to various levels of sound processing and feature complexity.
Edge AI 16 Model Highlights:
- Channels: Equipped with 16 processing channels, the Edge AI 16 offers dependable sound quality, though with slightly fewer fine-tuning options compared to the 20 and 24 models.
- Features: Provides mid-level noise management and feedback cancellation, which works effectively in most settings but may be less capable in extremely noisy environments.
- Performance: Ideal for quieter or moderately noisy environments, the Edge AI 16 supports daily listening needs but may not perform as well in highly challenging or dynamic soundscapes.
- Bluetooth Connectivity: The 16 model includes basic streaming capabilities, offering reliable Bluetooth connectivity, though higher models provide more robust streaming stability and quality.
Key Differences Across Edge AI Models:
- Processing Channels: As you move up from the Edge AI 16 to the 24, each model includes additional processing channels, allowing for finer sound adjustments and better performance in complex auditory environments.
- Advanced Features: The higher-level models offer expanded features, including more advanced AI-based sound enhancements, stronger noise reduction, and greater customization options to tailor the hearing aid to specific user needs.
- Bluetooth and Streaming: While all models support Bluetooth streaming, higher models like the 24 offer a more stable and high-quality streaming experience, particularly suited for users who rely heavily on streaming.
Summary: The Edge AI 24 is best suited for those with complex hearing needs in diverse environments. The 16 model, on the other hand, is an excellent choice for users seeking essential, reliable support for everyday listening without the added complexity, while the 20 model balances advanced features and performance for less demanding situations.
